Numerous studies report that intangible assets represent at least 70% of corporate value.
The indifference to valuing patents is hindering the management and monetization of the largest category of corporate assets.

The Importance of Patent Valuation

You can’t manage what you can’t measure. You can’t monetize what you can’t value.

The consequences of not knowing the value of your patents are many. At the negotiating table, licensing professionals will misprice upfront payments, milestones and royalty rates. On term sheets and during roadshows, company valuations will dismiss the contribution of firms’ most critical assets.

Limiting one’s review to accounting ledgers will present a warped perspective of the value of patents and inventions. In the context of acquisitions, joint-ventures or corporate reorganizations, ignoring the valuation of intangible assets is the precursor to massively miscalculating closing prices, deal terms and equity allocation.

Those who cannot articulate the value of their intellectual property are condemned to accept whatever price their negotiating adversaries are willing to pay. Inventors and shareholders truly pay the price for ill-prepared negotiators.

Never put your organization at the mercy of better prepared negotiators. To hire a Certified Patent Valuation Analyst to prepare Patent Valuation Reports for you, please find the best suited CPVA at our directory.

More than 1,000 patent professionals from approximately 45 U.S. states and in excess of 50 countries from around the world have participated in CPVA training sessions.

The CPVA program is suitable for professionals looking to perform valuation of IP assets and for business owners and managers to understand the value of the IP in their business and how to maximise the value in their IP.

Eugene Yang

Excellent Program provides intellectual property all the skill necessary to value patents from the analytical, legal, financial and practical perspectives with the knowledge about licensing arrangements.

Shadya Ahmad Awad

This is a great course for people who are new to the patent valuation process. The course was very well organized and helped me learn and understand the basic concepts easily.  Instructors also did a good job of communicating the concepts and they taught me what I was looking for.

Amit Mendiratta

If you were running from ideal theories concerning patent valuation like me, then the CPVA program will provide you with the real pragmatic tactics for this not straightforward process.

Mohannad Abudayyah

McKenzey Poirier

The CPVA program provides a wealth of highly useful resources from which a valuation analyst can draw when providing valuations on IP assets, covering a myriad of situations, types of transactions, and assets.

Derek Mason, Ph.D., CLP, CPVA

The CPVA program was the answer to one of the main uncertainties regarding my patent practice. Many of my patent clients asked what the value of their patents is.  My answer was always that we wouldn’t really know until we put the patents up for sale. When I found out about the CPVA program, I jumped at the chance to learn the process. The CPVA program combined with the Patent Valuation Gauntlet offers a rigorous methodology to value my clients’ patent portfolios.

Atty. Richard L. (Rick) Bigelow

CPVA is one of the best world-level professional programs I have known since my career in IP (patent) started in 2006. CPVA offers candidates uniquely practical knowledge and tools in handling challenging valuation tasks. I am honored to manage CPVA program in China where we see continuously growing popularity and endorsements. If there is only one professional program to recommend in the big innovation eco-system, I would tag CPVA without hesitation.

Binqiang Liu, PhD

I am learning many new things in the program. Not only a plethora of methods for valuing Patents/IPs but also on how to understand the context and risks involved in the IP transactions, the very important role of negotiation in IP transaction, and the application of the concepts, approaches and methods in the actual cases. I am looking forward to learn more from the program.
