Patent Attorney Referral Network
As of July 20, 2026, the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) began requiring all foreign-domiciled inventors and applicants to use a registered U.S. patent attorney or agent. Self-representation (pro se) before the USPTO is no longer be an option for non-U.S. residents.
The CPVA’s Patent Lawyer Referral Network refers non-U.S. patentees and their lawyers to suitable U.S. patent counsel.
